Trend Alert: Feather Headbands

"Drop Down and Get Your Eagle On"... has a whole new meaning.

This summer is season for feathers. While the look doesn't transition well to clothes, ladies are flocking to the look like a wildfire. I have seen the headbands in on the runways and even on Canal Street in New York. Depending on the authenticity of the material, C808 ladies can find the look for $3.99 to $60. While we believe in being fierce on a budget, we can't help but noting BEBE has the hottest headbands. Visit http://www.bebe.com/ to check out the looks.

Interesting: Valentino - The Last Emperor

I caught this movie over the weekend. It's awesome. If you love clothes, art and have any sense of culture, run to your nearest independent theater and check out this movie. You're likely to pick up fashion tips, laugh about the high fashion lifestyle and find your inner fashion maven.

SwagNATION: Drake So Far Gone

Last Night, Drake aka Drizzy concluded his So Far Gone tour at S.O.B's in New York. The performance was killer. Bun B performed, MC Lyte swung by and Ryan Leslie was in the building. Lil' Wayne was supposedly there, but I couldn't see him. However my homie said he saw him. I wish he would have performed. According to the video below, Kanye West also caught the show. I learned two lessons at that concert: 1. It is so important to improve your SWAG. If you don't have confidence, it's best for you to sit down and watch other people live wonderful lives. 2. every now again let loose, but remember not to compromise you're brand. :o)
UPDATE: A rap group named Folk & Stress also performed. Their rap game is nice. At one point the duo did an acapella set that really encouraged me and the rest of the audience to pay attention to their skills. Visit the group at http://twitter.com/FolkandStress

Music Review: Chrisette Michele

If you have been in love and had your heart broken, Chrisette Michele's new album Epiphany is a great album to play in order to redeem your spirit. She’s done. Over it. The relationship is kaput, but Ms. Michele isn’t going to cry. The album's fourth track, Blame It On Me, she shows that she is willing to take the entire blame for the whole messed up relationship just to escape from it and her ex lover. (please keep in mind this is the concept of the song. No one said this song is based of a true story.) We love this song, because it’s a fresh song writer’s concept. On the album, Chrisette gives her typical melodic runs and riffs, but what we noticed the most is that the artist has found her own sound and confidence in her voice. It’s all her own and we applaud her sound, which was helped heavily by the guidance of Neyo who wrote on part of this album. Please checkout her album at http://www.imeem.com/chrisettemichele

Forecast: Headbands

Don't get a head of yourself...

It took seconds for use to figure out that Hollywood is pushing the headband trend, which is showing up now in department store catalogs. Peep a few the looks below, but make sure that you keep your eye open for several others taking on the trend.

SwagNATION: Lip Service

There comes a time when you have to put away the childish things and try something new. For years, I thought lipstick was for older women. But times are a changing. Per my interview with celebrity make-up artist Porsche Cooper, I decided to check out trends for lip sticks. I surfed the net to find that LIPSTICK is so in right now, but it has to be in bright and bold shades. In my defense, I'm not late to the party. I was just protesting it. :o) My theory is this, when little girls start singing "My Lip Gloss Is Poppin" that means it's time for me to step in to a more mature role by using MAC's lip stain or lipstick.

Are you you pink or red? Runway shows in New York, Paris and Australia have all featured poppy colored lips in those shades. The look has also been seen on singers such as Ciara and Monica, who are pictured below both rocking contrasting looks.

Fashion insiders say the trend has to be a bright and matte lip, putting an end to the glossy lip. Meanwhile for Fall '09, experts have pegged darker Gothic tones such as plum and black for a more of a dramatic effect. (Be careful, when looking to wear this look in the general public.)

C808 Hearts: Perfectly Blind

As you already know Day 26's album forever in a day is in stores. If you haven't picked it up, you're missing out. Check out our favorite track on the album. :o) this is the song of the month!

Tyra Goes Nude

As in she's wearing the NUDE trend.

Sunday, the television host attended the 4th Annual New York Times Sunday with the Magazine at The TimesCenter in New York City.

Recently, she wore another outfit in nude to court to testify against her alleged stalker. If you can learn anything from these looks, noticed that she is keeping clean lines, which means that the outfit hugs her figure and there isn't any bunching of fabric to make her appear larger than her actual size.

OMG: Rachel by Rachel Roy

God most definitely answered our prayers!

Newly single Rachel Roy debuted "Rachel," a full line of clothing and accessories exclusive to Macy’s that will retail for around $50 to $250. Give C808's addiction to the department store's New York location, we are so ready to drop dough on this line. According to Style.com, its insider said there were versions of Roy staple clothing items such as hammered silk jumpsuits and throw-on-and-go dresses. There were also other pieces like faux-fur paint-splattered miniskirt. Graffiti-print pochettes and ankle boots, patent leather brogues, and tough spiked necklaces were also included in the collection. Below are pics Rachel posted to her Facebook and Twitter profile.... Veronica Webb attended the event and it appears she loved the line.

Greek Goddess Vs. Maxi Dress

Bottom line... Add flavor And Go Greek.

Everybody knows that Maxi dresses are in this season... Well if you planning to wear it, take it one step further and try the Greecian look. Some of the styles are popping up in a wide range of stores such as Target and Nordstroms.

A Blazer As The New Cardi?

Fashion Gods sure do switch their minds quickly. According to Rachel Roy, blazers are the new cardigans for the ladies. We must say this a more flattering suggestion for the ladies in comparison to the post we filed months earlier.

Here's a pic of Kim Kardashian in a white blazer, spinning records at the 2nd Annual Derby Spectacular celebration at Glassworks. Below she's reading an article from the local newspaper.

Recently, Chrisette Michelle wore a similar blazer for a performance at B.B. King in MAnhattan. The songstress gave artists a taste of her soon-to-be released Sophomore album Epiphany. We heard she killed the set. Her album is scheduled to come out tomorrow. (Look out for our review.)

Halle's Hair

Style maven Halle Berry has a new hair cut. The Oscar winner is returning to her roots, wearing a modern bob. Bob haircuts are really popular, along with geometrical hair cuts, this season. C808 has to say that we adore this look, mainly because we have a similar hair cut.

Alicia's Fertility Shoes

Checkout Alicia Keys rocking the controversial “fertility goddess tribal” pumps by Christian Dior for their Spring/Summer 2009 collection. The shoes are priced at around $1,500. This story is via Sandrarose.com, who beat us to the punch. It's all good, C808 loves her site.

Simply Fierce

Actress Zoe Saldana looks simply fierce! The star is on the red carpet of the Los Angeles premiere of "Star Trek," which opens next week. Zoe co-stars in the film and we believe in the movie they are still rocking those tight/ smedium jumpers.

Guess Who?

Ladies you love this man, who is looking for a girl right now. And apparently he wants to be around long time, which is why he put on this mask. His Twitter caption reads that he is "Swine flu ducking." If you guessed Trey Songz, your right!

Pop or Drop?

Listen for yourself....

Interesting: Obama Swagga

Believe it our not, I like this awkward segment because C808 believes in keeping it real.

Australia's Fashion Week

Australia's fashion week kicked off earlier this week. According to news reports, this year's schedule was thinner as the global economic crisis crimped designers and buyers' participation, but the catwalk remained an explosion of colors amid optimism that spending will pick up. Organizers of the 14th Australian Fashion Week said the event was 15% smaller than last year, with 41 shows and two rather than three catwalks, which mirrored cuts in the fashion capitals of London, Paris, New York and Milan.
